Foxcroft Academy senior Peter Boyer is one of 13 semifinalists for the Fitzpatrick Trophy, which for over 40 years has been presented to the top senior football player in the state of Maine. The 13 semifinalists represent Classes A, B, C and D, with three finalists to be chosen and then the winner announced at an award banquet Jan. 18 in Portland.

Coaches from across Maine nominated players and then the Fitzpatrick Trophy committee selected semifinalists for consideration by the state’s coaches and sports media. Boyer, one of two Class C semifinalists, helped the Ponies reach the Class C East semifinals while rushing for 1,310 yards and 21 touchdowns and contributing 119 tackles and three interceptions. The halfback/linebacker, who has a 3.4 GPA, also runs track for the Ponies, plays in several bands and is a volunteer youth football coach.
