90th birthday celebration

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Catherine (Kay) Quirion celebrated her 90th birthday recently at the Hibbard Skilled Nursing Center. Kay was born in Mattawamkeag, Maine to Edward and Roseanna Quirion, and was the fifth of seven children. She grew up in Lakeview and Brownville Jct. Kay had many funny stories to pass to her nieces and nephews of her adventures on the farm with her brothers and sisters. Growing up on the farm gave Kay a love of animals that grew with her over the years prompting her to adopt many cats.

After graduating high school, she went to nursing school and then moved to Dexter where she worked in the office at Fayscott. Kay was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and sang in the choir for many years. She was active in the Daughters of Isabella where she spent one year as regent. After working at Fayscott for over 20 years, she began working in the Dexter school system as one of the “lunch ladies.” Kay also lived and worked in the Sterling Hotel in Dexter for many years.
One of the family’s many favorite memories of Aunt Kay was the times that she and their Aunt Millie would be at another sister Donnie’s house singing and playing the piano and getting downright silly.
