H. J. Crosby Community Band concert Dec. 14

    DEXTER — The H.J. Crosby Community Band will be presenting its holiday concert at the Dexter town hall on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. This free cabaret-style concert will feature the band and the Dexter Brass playing a variety of musical pieces to brighten the holiday season.

    Joining them will be guest artist-in-residence, Liza Patty-Lugo, whom the band will feature on a couple of songs selected just for her and her tuba: “Asleep in the Deep” and “Sugar Blues.” There will also be a sing-along in “A Tribute of Carols” and a musical retelling of ‘”Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
    Liza’s husband, Louie, a U.S. Army Band member, will be playing with the band as well.
    So to honor him and all soldiers and sailors at this time of year, the band will play  H. J. Crosby’s “The United States Army,” a regimental march composed in 1916.
