Free alcohol server/seller training sessions on Nov. 19

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Piscataquis Public Health Council, a local Healthy Maine Partnership (HMP) in partnership with Mayo Regional Hospital and Maine’s Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services, is providing the following free trainings:

Training for Intervention Procedures (TIPS) on Wednesday, Nov. 19 with on-premise training from 8 a.m.-noon and off-premise training from 12:30-4:30 p.m. in the Piscataquis Room at Mayo Regional Hospital.
This state approved server/seller training will cover the following topics: Identifying minors and visibly intoxicated patrons (VIPs). Intervention to prevent a visibly intoxicated patron from driving. How alcohol is ingested and metabolized by the body. What alcoholism is and how alcohol affects the body. False ID detection and carding policy (did you know you and your establishment are liable for accepting a false ID?). The importance of good written policies.
The Liquor Liability Act Quality training has proven to be an effective tool to prevent costly violations; instill more confidence in your sellers/servers; and possibly reduce Liquor Liability Insurance (check with your insurance provider).
Upon successfully completing the program, attendees will receive the state ID Checking Guide and they will be registered with the Maine Department of Public Safety, Liquor Licensing and receive a certificate that is good for three years.
