Center Theatre awarded energy audit grant

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Maine Community Foundation, Maine Development Foundation and Efficiency Maine announce the first round of grants from the Grants to Green program, which helps nonprofits increase the energy efficiency of historic downtown buildings. Among the eight recipients of grants ranging from $1,300 to $2,000 to conduct energy audits is the Center Theatre.

“This grant will help nonprofits maximize the use of important downtown buildings and reduce energy costs, allowing them to redirect scarce resources to other operations and programming,” said Meredith Jones, president and CEO of the Maine Community Foundation.”
The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta awarded the Maine Community Foundation $1.2 million in May to replicate its Grants to Green program. Grants to Green furthers the Maine Community Foundation’s strategic priority to improve the quality of life and economic vitality of Maine’s downtown centers. The Maine Community Foundation is one of just two community foundations nationally chosen to replicate the program with support from the Kendeda Fund of The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta. The Maine Development Foundation’s Maine Downtown Center is overseeing implementation.
