June Elizabeth (Edgerly) Mitchell is the current holder of the Boston Post Cane as the oldest living Guilford resident. Born June 16, 1918 in Sangerville, she was married for over 50 years to Ernest Eugene Mitchell and had four daughters; Shirley, Beverly, Sharon and Merrilee. She worked many years in the local textile mill and was a well-known “Avon Lady.” As of this writing, she now resides at South Main Street with her daughter, Merrilee and husband, Brian Levensailor.
