DOVER-FOXCROFT — The following are the award winners as determined by a panel of judges (Nate Knight, Clint Rohdin and Bruce Thomas from the History Channel’s “Downeast Dickering”) during the 2014 Dover-Foxcroft Shiretown Homecoming Parade “Northwoods Heritage” on Aug. 2:
Best Non Profit (traveling trophy): Center Theatre.
Best Business (traveling trophy): Dover True Value.
Howard Kesseli Memorial Award: Piscataquis Valley Fair Association.
Best Parade Float: Atlantic Clarion Steel Band.
Best Antique Unit: 1968 Camaro.
Best First Responder Unit: Dover-Foxcroft Fire Department.
Best Alumni Float: Foxcroft Academy Classes of 1978, 1979 and 1980.
Best Musical Group: Zevulon.
Special Mention: Foxcroft Academy Rock Band with Josh Guthrie.

CLASS REUNIONS — The Dover-Foxcroft Shiretown Homecoming parade always includes Foxcroft Academy classes celebrating reunions, and this year the Class of 1964, above, and 1984 marked respective 50th and 30th anniversaries of graduating from the secondary school.

SOMEONE’S IN HERE! — An outhouse brought up the rear of a parade float marking the tri-class reunion of the Foxcroft Academy Classes of 1978, 1979 and 1980. The float ended up taking top alumni honors in the parade judging.

PARADE MARSHAL AND FAMILY — Serving as this year’s parade marshal was Mrs. Maine 2014 Liza Smith, who was joined by her husband Ryan behind the wheel and sons Landon, left, and Jackson helping throw out candy. Smith is scheduled to take part in the 2014 Mrs. America pageant later this month in Arizona.
