Panciera helps USM win a pair of track titles

sp-pancieramug-dcX-po-7    GORHAM — Emily Panciera, a resident of Monson and 2011 graduate of Foxcroft Academy, was a junior on the University of Southern Maine (USM) women’s outdoor track and field team this past season. Panciera helped the Huskies win a pair of conference championships with her performances in both the 800 and 1,500.

    USM won the Little East Conference Championship for the 15th consecutive season, tallying 185.6 points at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth to finish first out of six teams.
    Among Little East competitors, Panciera was third in the 1,500 with a time of 5 minutes, 4.23 seconds as the Huskies had three of the four race performers. Panciera added a sixth-place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:30.94.
    The meet also served as the New England Alliance Championship, and USM won this title for the 13th time in the last 15 years. The Huskies picked up 138.50 points to finish first in a field of 10 squads.
    Panciera was also third in the 1,500 in these standings, and she came in 11th in the 800.
    The USM women’s outdoor track roster included sophomore Chelsie Oldfield, a resident of Dover-Foxcroft and 2012 graduate of Foxcroft Academy.
