Boyer continues track career at Carnegie Mellon
PITTSBURGH — Dover-Foxcroft resident Don Boyer, a 2013 graduate of Foxcroft Academy, recently finished his freshman year on the men’s outdoor track team at Carnegie Mellon University.
Boyer, who was a state champion during his time in a Pony uniform, helped the Tartans finish in second place at the University Athletic Association Championship at the University of Chicago. He had a season-best performance in the long jump by finishing third at a distance of 6.69 meters. Boyer also had a 2014 high in the 110 hurdles, finishing sixth in 16.14 seconds.
Boyer’s contributions helped Carnegie Mellon pick up 166 points at the conference final, trailing only the 211 scored by Washington University of St. Louis. During his first year of college Boyer also was a member of the Tartans’ indoor track and football teams.
