Historical society program to feature pair of retired law enforcement officers turned authors

MONSON — On Saturday, July 19 at 11 a.m. the Monson Historical Society is pleased to present a special event featuring two Maine authors, John Ford and Mark Nickerson at the Monson Museum located on Main Street.

Ford, a retired game warden, is author of two books, “Suddenly, the Cider Didn’t Taste So Good” and “This Cider Still Tastes Funny.” He is a natural storyteller, comes from a long line of Maine Game Wardens. Ford spent all of his 23-year warden career in Waldo County in central Maine and upon his retirement in 1990, he was elected  county sheriff and served until 1994. He writes for a newspaper column and is a regular contributor to the Northwoods Sporting Journal. Ford has a wonderful sense of humor and is guaranteed to have the audience laughing.
Nickerson’s book is “Blue Lights in the Night: Real Life Stories of Maine State Trooper.” Nickerson became a Maine State Trooper in 1977 and his first assignment was the Greenville region, living in Greenville Jct. He served the Piscataquis area until 1982 when he was transferred to Unity. After 28 years as a state trooper he retired and went on to become a columnist and author.  His book is filled with the most humorous and harrowing adventures of his career including Monson!
Ford and Nickerson have been doing programs together at many venues around Maine. For more information or questions, contact Estella Bennett at 876-3073.
