PCSWCD youth summer camp

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Schools are out, the sun is shining and the days are warm — summer is officially here. Summer is often a very busy time for families, as they are deciding how to spend these few precious days. Traditionally, many families choose to send their kids to summer camps and the staff at the Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) want to talk about a great natural resource and agriculture summer camp.

A camp geared toward ages 7-12 runs from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday from July 28 to Aug. 8. Campers will enjoy presentations, activities and field trips, all of which will be well suited for their age group. The goal is to provide a fun, active and exciting camp where campers can learn all about natural resource conservation and agriculture. This year, they will learn about soils, energy, ecology, water quality, local fisheries and tour a fantastic line-up of diverse farms. All presentations are hands-on and our campers are always given opportunities to learn by touch, taste and feel.
The staff at the PCSWCD are in the office from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to answer any questions about either summer camp or help with registration. Summer camps are offered to youth through partnerships with and support from local businesses, civic groups and organizations and through a grant from the Maine Community Foundation’s Piscataquis County Fund.
For more information contact Lynn, Joanna or Kacey at the Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District, 42 Engdahl Drive, Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426, 564-2321 ext. 3, info@piscataquisswcd.org, or www.facebook.com/PCSWCD.
