GFWC/Miosac installs new officers

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — Seventeen members and two associate members of the GFWC/Miosac Club met at the Other Room for a 78th birthday celebration and installation of officers. Hostesses Roxy McGlauflin and Cathy Goodine served delicious appetizers followed by a sumptuous meal.

    Immediate Past GFWC/Maine President Anne Cress installed the new officers using Gerbera daisies. The new officers are President Vicki Moschella, Vice President Anne Cress, Recording Secretary Cathy Goodine, Treasurer Carol Kilpatrick, Corresponding Secretary Roxy McGlauflin and Auditor Pat Jones.
    Cathy Goodine drew numbers for the plants that were used for decorations. Winners were Athalie Burke, Dot Tonnick and Diane Leighton.
    Carol Killpatrick reported on the community directory which is proving to be very successful. She also announced that the Everett Fairbrother Scholarship has been awarded. The name is withheld until after it is presented.
    Vicki Moschella reported on the spring convention and announced awards received. Miosac club gained four new members for a 19 percent growth and received $35. The club was very pleased that the scrapbook prepared by Vicki took first place with a monetary award of $50. They also received $32.50 for directory ads. Newborns in Need Chairman Minnie McCormick presented the club with a certificate of participation for their contributions to the President’s Project.
    Barb Austin presented outgoing President Betsey Ryan with a gift certificate from club members for her service. Betsey presented the gavel to Incoming President Vicki Moschella.
    Roxy McGlauflin announced that members can start bringing items for the yard sale on July 12 at 66 Lincoln St. Rain date will be July 19. Roxy and Cathy Goodine cut and served the beautiful 78th birthday cake.
    The club will be in recess for the summer with members working on things of their own and the Advisory Committee will be planning the programs for the next administration.
