DOVER-FOXCROFT — We invite one and all to a birthday party for the Dover-Foxcroft Historical Society. We are celebrating our 50th birthday at the Blacksmith Shop at 107 Dawes Road on July 4. This will be a special day as we open our new building with Adriaan Gerber doing demonstrations on blacksmithing. He will be there from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Gerber is the resident blacksmith at the Curran Homestead and specializes in making knives, swords and decorative ironwork.

Demonstrations begin at 10 a.m. We will be dedicating the new forge and sharing our birthday cake at 11 a.m. There will be drinks available thanks to the Daughters of the Union Veterans, who will be there in their Civil War dresses. The Blacksmith Shop Museum will be open for tours. We hope you can join us for a day of family fun.
On Saturdays during the summer we will have several blacksmiths stopping by to share the craft of blacksmithing. Please go to our website www.dover-foxcrofthistoricalsociety.org for a complete schedule of dates and times.
The Blacksmith Shop Museum is now open for the summer. The Observer Building Museum will be open each Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting on July 10. Please plan a visit to the museums this summer.
