Nine recognized on Spanish exams

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — Nine Foxcroft Academy students have been recognized for strong performances on the 2014 National Spanish Examinations. Students earned one Silver Medal, two Bronze Medals and six honorable mentions.  

    “Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, national director of the exams, “because the exams are the largest of their kind in the U.S. with over 154,000 students participating in 2014.”
    Landon Page received a Silver Medal with a score of 91 percent, Jenny Boyer and Cooper Nelson earned Bronze Medals with scores of 87 and 81 percent, and Angelina Buzzelli, Gabrielle Johnson, Savannah Scudder, Renee Shorey, Alisha Thomas and Julian Zepeda all attained honorable mention by scoring higher than 52 percent.
    The National Spanish Examinations are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese and are administered each year in grades 6-12. Foxcroft Academy students, who are taught by Mirna Reyes Henderson, have a long history of high achievement on the exams.
