‘Burt’s Buzz’ at Center Theatre Saturday
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Burt’s Buzz, a new documentary, takes an intimate look at the world of Burt Shavitz, the face and co-founder of Burt’s Bees, exploring his fascinating and exceptional life.
The film is being shown at the Center Theatre for one night only on Saturday, June 21 at 7 p.m.
The documentary follows Burt Shavitz and his exceptional experiences. Wise and wry, ornery and opinionated, the reclusive Shavitz is committed to living off the land and keeping true to his humble beginnings despite his celebrity status. The film chronicles Burt’s life as a photographer, beekeeper, and brand spokesman, following his complicated relationship with the company, his fans, and the world around him.
The new documentary is being screened in limited venues across the country, according to Angela Bonacasa the Center Theatre’s Executive Director “At the moment if you want to see this film the next closest venue is New York City, so we’re very excited to have it for our community,” she said.
Besides Burt himself, several other central Maine residents appear in the film including Bruce Tibbetts, owner of Bob’s Farm, Home and Garden, who first sold some of Burt’s products; and Trevor Folsom, who works for Burt.
