Something for everyone at PRYMCA’s Dinner, Dance, Auction

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Piscataquis Regional YMCA’s Dinner, Dance, Auction will be held on June 14 at 6 p.m. The event, the biggest fundraiser of the year, takes place at the Y at 48 Park Street. The proceeds from the event support the Y’s Annual Campaign and benefits children and families with financial need in our community.
“We’re excited to be getting close to this year’s event,” said Deb Boyd, executive director of the PRYMCA, “and we’re having fun making plans around our 1950s theme. Tickets are still on sale at the Y and we’re focusing on having something for everyone at the auction. The Dinner, Dance, Auction is an important event for our organization and is a great chance to get out for a fun night.”

As the name suggests, this is a three-part event — each one worth the price of admission. First, event-goers will enjoy delicious home-style barbecue prepared while they watch. Chicken and pork entrees will be available as well as vegetarian options along with all the fixings. A cash bar will be provided by the Nor’Easter Restaurant.
Performing during the event and to encourage the dancers to kick up their heels will be Foxcroft Academy’s Music Director Josh Guthrie along with his band. Before the dancing starts, however, are the live and silent auctions. “We have a wide range of items,” Boyd said. “We’re also thrilled to have many items that we’ve never had at the auction before that will generate lots of excitement.”
Some of the bigger items include an attractive green house, a labradoodle puppy and a round trip ticket for two to anywhere that Southwest Airlines flies. But the auction also features many items for everyone including pies, firewood, camp rentals, whoopie pies and many other items. Another reason to come to the event is the auctioneer Ron Miles. “Ron is a wonderful auctioneer and always fun to watch,” Boyd stated. “He makes the auction very entertaining!”
According to Boyd, sponsors are an important part of making the event a success. “We are so grateful for our corporate sponsors Pleasant River Lumber, Will’s Shop ‘n Save, Mayo Regional Hospital, and Foxcroft Veterinarians. We truly couldn’t do it without them.” Tickets for the Dinner, Dance, Auction can be purchased at the Y or by calling 564-7111.
The Piscataquis Regional YMCA is a cause-driven organization that is committed to the community and dedicated to promoting healthy spirit, mind, and body for all, through programs and services grounded in Christian heritage and the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
