NAMI to host author Solak-Goodwin

By Beth Ranagan

DOVER-FOXCROFT — On June 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sebec Room at Mayo Regional Hospital, there will be a presentation by Christina Solak-Goodwin. The local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is delighted to have her speak again this year.

Solak-Goodwin, a Maine author, has written her second book “Diary of a Mental Patient: A Journey Towards Acceptance”. This follows her first book “Battling Bipolar Disorder” about which she spoke last year when she came to NAMI Piscataquis County. Following the presentation about her recent book, Solak-Goodwin will answer questions about how she manages her disease so that she can continue her professional life as an RN and a mental health clinician. Her new book describes how she handles her mood swings and intrusive thoughts. Bipolar disorder is an incurable, but treatable, mental illness.
The public is invited to this presentation. Signed copies of both books will be available for purchase.
