Area track and field results

    The Penquis Valley High School girls scored 29 points during a May 21 meet at the University of Maine in Orono to place fourth out of nine teams.
    Jessica Preble placed third in the long jump at a distance of 14 feet, 6.50 inches, and she was sixth in the 400 with a time of 1 minute, 8.63 seconds. Preble anchored the third-place 4×100 relay as she followed Jordan Durant, Zoe Berry and Courtney Bowers for a time of 56.03 seconds.
    Bowers came in third in the high jump at 4-04. Durant was fourth in both the 200 and triple jump at 28.88 seconds and 30-03.75.
    Placing sixth for Penquis was Berry in the javelin at 77-08 and Isabel Ruffin in the discus at 69-07.

    The girls from Piscataquis Community High School picked up two points to place eighth at UMaine. Tiia Kand came in sixth in the long jump at 13-11.50, and sixth in the high jump was Elaine Riitano at 4-02.
    In the boys’ meet, Penquis finished fifth in a field of nine schools with a score of 29 points.
    Leading the way was the 4×100 relay squad, which came in second. Thomas Diaz, Joshua Gray, Michael Vachon and Clayton Tarnoczy combined for a time of 50.72 seconds.
    Gray came in third in the long jump with a leap of 16-10, and Tarnoczy came in fourth in the 100 at 12.72 seconds as well as anchoring the fourth-place 4×400 relay team. Diaz, Joshua Martin, Vachon and Tarnoczy covered the four laps around the track in 4:06.45.
    Devon Stroud placed fourth in the shot put and fifth in the discus with respective throws of 33-00 and 94-10. Martin added a sixth-place performance in the javelin, at 110-03.
    The boys from Greenville High School came in seventh with 15 points.
    Evan Sullivan was the meet’s runner-up in the javelin, as he threw 132-09. Sullivan was also fourth in the discus at 98-07 and fifth in the 100 with a time of 13.01 seconds.
    Charlie Warman came in sixth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 51.54 seconds.
    On May 24 the Foxcroft Academy girls finished fourth out of nine teams during a meet at Old Town High School.
    A pair of Ponies recorded first-place performances. Fern Morrison was the meet winner in the 400 at 1:02.32 and Mia Smith placed first in the pole vault at a height of 7-00.
    The two would have a hand in over half of Foxcroft’s point total. Morrison came in third in the 200 at 28.71 seconds while Smith was sixth in the triple jump at 28-06.75. She also ran the last leg of the sixth-place 4×100 relay, following Kate Sukhanova, Holly Fortier and Abigail Mcleod with the quartet running a time of 58 seconds.
    Mcleod was the meet’s second-place finisher in the high jump at 4-06. She ran the third leg of the Pony 4×400 relay with Sukhanova, Holly Fortier and Erika Chadbourne coming in third at 4:51.55.
    Also placing for Foxcroft was Liza Grigoryeva in the 1,600 and 800. She came in third in the 1,600 at 5:59.80 and was fifth at 800 meters with a time of 2:47.25. Anna Sedlackhova placed fourth in the 3,200 at 16:07.75.
    The Dexter Regional High School girls scored 23 points to place seventh at the Old Town meet.
    The Tiger 4×400 relay had the team’s highest finish by placing second, with Katie Batron, Kirsten Swim, Meredith Roderka and Shana Fogg combining for a time of 4:45.25. Fogg and Roderka each had fourth-place runs, in the 400 at 1:07.26 and in the 800 at 2:43.69 respectively.
    Placing fifth for Dexter was Ashley Reynolds in the 1,600 at 6:41.17 and Sarah Vigue in the javelin at 85-06. Sixth-place finishers were Batron in the 100 at 14.15 seconds; Autumn Nickerson in the javelin at 85-06; and Vigue in the discus at 79-03.
    On the boys’ side, Foxcroft tallied 91 points to finish third out of nine teams.
    Peter Boyer won the shot put with a throw of 45-03.75, and less than an inch behind was Corey Bjornson in second at 45-03. Bjornson also won the discus with a throw of 130-10, and Boyer came in fifth at 113-05.
    Cooper Nelson had the other first-place performance for the Ponies, as he was the meet winner in the 800 in 2:05.55. In the 3,200 Nelson came in fourth at 11:28.77.
    Zhe Chen finished as the meet runner-up in the 300 hurdles with a time of 48.47 seconds. Chen also placed fourth in the 110 hurdles at 20.52 seconds and he was sixth in the long and triple jumps with respective distances of 16-11.75 and 35-10.50.
    Two Foxcroft relays squads came in third. Justin Diamond, Dylan Richards, Sebastian Zepeda and Bjornson were third in the 4×100 with a time of 47.60 seconds. Diamond, James Smith, Berkehan Taner and Richards were third in the 4×400 at 3:57.81.
    Pony fourth-place finishers were Max Santagata in the 300 hurdles at 52.39 seconds, James Smith in the 800 at 2:16.07 and Ryan Wang in the javelin at 134-04.
    The other point-scorers were Bjornson, fifth in the 100 at 12.11 seconds; Noah Simpson and Paul Birtwistle in the 1,600 at fifth and sixth with respective times of 5:24.24 and 5:25.98; Xinghan Gong, fifth in the 300 hurdles at 54.06 seconds; and Gabe Piquette, fifth in the 3,200 at 11:39.86.
    The boys from Dexter came in the fourth at Old Town with a score of 35 points.
    Sean Lockart was second in the racewalk with a time of 11:24.33, and the meet runner-up in the high jump was Zach Caron at 5-08.Conrad Tarr placed third in the event at a height of 5-06, and fourth was Brandon Allen at 5-00.
    Caron tied for fourth in the triple jump at 36-00.75 and he was a part of the fourth-place 4×400 relay. Allen, Valentin Nekrasov, Caron and Seth Blais combined for a time of 3:57.81. Individually, Blais came in fifth in the 400 at 55.60 seconds and he was sixth in the 200 at 25.09 seconds.
