Hospice workshop on comforting May 15
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Val Walker, author of “The Art of Comforting: What to Say and Do for People in Distress”, will be the guest speaker at Pine Tree Hospice’s community forum on how to support and communicate with individuals who are going through serious illness, bereavement, or other difficult life circumstances.
Walker provides training in the art of comforting at hospitals, universities, government agencies and businesses. Her articles have appeared in AARP Bulletin, Good Housekeeping and Whole Living magazines. She holds a Master of Science Degree in rehabilitation counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University, with specialized study in grief, loss and disability.
This free event is open to all community members. Light refreshments will be provided. The session will be May 15, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Charlotte White Center at 572 Bangor Road.
