Center Theatre welcomes ‘Tea With Eleanor’

DOVER-FOXCROFT — On Wednesday, May 7, at 6 p.m. the Center Theatre will present a special performance of “Tea With Eleanor.” The program, which runs twice daily at Roosevelt Campobello International Park in New Brunswick, allows guests to enjoy a cup or two of tea while experts share stories about the life of Eleanor Roosevelt.

“We are thrilled to welcome Carolyn Newman to the Center Theatre,” says Executive Director Angela Bonacasa. “Many local residents have enjoyed this event at Campbello Park, and she is a big part of the experience there. The ‘Tea With Eleanor’ experience has not been brought to many locations outside of the park, so we are very fortunate and excited to bring it to the Center Theatre.”
Tea time was a sacred institution for Roosevelt, and had been since she was a young girl. She continued the tradition in the Governor’s Mansion in Albany, at the White House when she was not traveling and continued further during the years at Roosevelt Cottage. The Center Theatre welcomes the public to experience an intimate and personal look at this remarkable woman.
The “Tea With Eleanor” event is sponsored by the Center Theatre, Foxcroft Academy and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sangerville & Dover-Foxcroft. Tea, cookies, and other refreshments will be served. Guests will be seated starting at 5:30 p.m., with the event beginning promptly at 6. Seating is limited and advanced purchase is strongly recommended. Tickets may be purchased anytime at www.centertheatre.org, by calling 564-8943 or by stopping by the Center Theatre Box Office Tuesdays-Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Additional information on this and upcoming events can be found on the new Center Theatre website at www.centertheatre.org, or by calling 564-8943. The Center Theatre is a non-profit performing arts center dedicated to making the arts a part of life in the Maine Highlands.
