‘Feel Good Piscataquis’, what would help you live healthier?

DOVER-FOXCROFT — What do you need to live a healthier life? What can we do as a community to help meet those needs? People of all ages — seniors, families with kids and teens — are invited to participate in a community conversation called “Feel Good Piscataquis” from 6 to 8 p.m. in the SeDoMoCha Middle School gym on Wednesday, May 7. The gathering includes a short supper followed by fun activities and brainstorming to get the ideas about living healthy lives flowing.

“Feel Good Piscataquis” is being put on by the Piscataquis Regional YMCA and the Charlotte White Center. Last fall, both organizations received grants from the Maine Health Access Foundation (MeHAF) to help people in Piscataquis County live healthier lives. Charlotte White received a “Thriving in Place Across the Continuum of Care” grant and the PRYMCA received a “Healthy Community” grant. The goal of both grants is to help the community identify its top health concerns and then come up with collaborative community projects to help solve those concerns. The solutions can be small — just big enough to make a difference.
“Feel Good Piscataquis” is free but pre-registration will help the organizers plan how much food to provide. To register, send an email to Erin Callaway, Healthy Community project coordinator, at e.callaway@prymca.org or call her at 343-0171.
In the meantime, check out the “Feel Good Piscataquis” page on Facebook. There’s a short survey to take, announcements about upcoming events, and tidbits of information to help start a conversation about healthy living with family, friends, at work and at school. “Feel Good Piscataquis” community conversations are also being planned for Milo, Guilford and Greenville.
