Center Theatre announces ‘Wizard of Oz’ Radio Show on April 26

DOVER-FOXCROFT — On Saturday, April 26 at 7 p.m., the Center Theatre will host an on stage Radio Show performance of “The Wizard of Oz”, performed by the Slightly Off-Center Players. The performance will also include a raffle to help the players raise money for “The Wizard of Oz” musical to be performed later in the year.

“This year is the 75th anniversary of ‘The Wizard of Oz,’” says Executive Director Angela Bonacasa, “and we are looking forward to seeing it on the Center Theatre stage. It only seemed right to start with the Radio Show as a warm up to the full production later in the year.”
In addition to the performance, there will also be a bake sale and raffle that evening, with all proceeds going toward the full production in the fall. All of the items being raffled are in “The Wizard of Oz” theme, including a balloon ride at the 2014 Piscataquis Heritage Hot Air Balloon Festival.
Bonacasa adds “the Slightly Off-Center Players have really come together to make this show happen. It is truly a group effort to bring such a large show to the stage, and the Radio Show and raffle will help greatly with that process. And we are grateful to all the groups, especially the Balloon Festival, that are helping with this effort.”
Tickets can be purchased at the performance or at the box office during business hours. The Center Theatre Box Office can be reached at 564-8943, stopping by the theatre at 20 East Main Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday or by going to the website at www.centertheatre.org. The Center Theatre is a non-profit performing arts center dedicated to making the arts a part of life in the Maine Highlands.
