DEXTER’S TOP ARTISTS — Winning in the GFWC/Dexter Women’s Literary annual art contest at Dexter Regional High School were, from left, sophomore Arielle Carlow, honorable mention; sophomore Alexis Kerr, third place; sophomore Cassidy Vautier, second; and senior Olivia Correa, first. Correa also came in third at the District Art Show, which featured works from across the region.

The winners each did a self-portrait in graphite. Prize money, ribbons, and certificates were presented April 7 to each student at Dexter Regional High School.  Special thanks to the judges, Nancy Lappert, Arlene Goldstein and Dolores Curtis; to Dave Lockwood for the framing of the artwork; and to Dexter Regional High School art teacher Mary Lightbody who pulled all this together to make it so successful.
The District Art Show was held April 5 at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer. Artwork from Patten, Dover-Foxcroft, Guilford, Greenville, Dexter, Newport, Pittsfield and Winterport were on display for judging. The GFWC/Dexter Women’s Literary Club is excited to announce that Correa’s self-portrait came in third place. She received a ribbon and a gift certificate.
Correa’s artwork will be on display for judging at the state level at the GFWC Maine spring convention to be held May 8-9 at the Senator Inn in Augusta.
