GFWC/Miosac Club news
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The GFWC/Miosac Club met April 1 at Thayer Parkway with 12 members present. A potluck dinner was enjoyed by all. Following the dinner, President Betsey Ryan called the meeting to order, welcoming all. Elaine Larson led the Collect, American’s Creed and Pledge of Allegiance. Members held a moment of silence in memory of Melba Warren, a former member. Warren served as president form 1964-66.

PINWHEELS FOR PREVENTION — Minnie McCormick of the GFWC/Miosac Club shows pinwheels members contributed to the Prevent Child Abuse America project.
Secretary Diane Leighton took roll call and read the minutes of the last meeting with one correction. Treasurer Carol Kilpatrick gave the treasurer’s report. Roxy McGlauflin read an invitation to a reception for GFWC Maine President Anne Cress.
Minnie McCormick reported that she continues to report club news to the papers. Elaine Larson spoke about the successful high school art contest/show held on March 23.. The three wining pieces went to the District 3 meeting for further judging with other high schools in the district
Barb Austin reported for the Look Out committee stating that Dot Finnemore is still not feeling well and members signed a card to be sent to her. Mae Thompson was also noted as not feeling well.
Brenda Quiet informed members that the next meeting will be a cookbook sale/swap. McCormick reported that she is still collecting for Newborns In Need, but that all monies and items must be in by April 30 so she can do her report. Kilpatrick reported that she is working on the community directory to be put out this summer. McGlauflin reminded members to bring their Ice Out money and tickets to her in the next few days — they do not expect the ice to go out any time soon. It was reported that member Betty Harvey’s son Tom had made a $50 donation.
It was suggested that the club do more service projects next year, the program committee will do the planning. Plans for a summer yard sale will be discussed at the next meeting.
The next meeting will be April 15 at 7 p.m. with hostesses Athalie Burke and Kilpatrick.
