SeDoMoCha MS and Foxcroft youth wrestling teams open the season in successful fashion

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — The SeDoMoCha wrestling team started practicing on Feb. 17. During February vacation the team started preparing for the upcoming season. The Eagles come into the season very optimistic and with a lot of excitement. The team has 23 wrestlers on the roster with a good mix of young wrestlers and experienced wrestlers.

    The excitement this year will be a league championship tournament. The Eagles will be part of the Penquis League, the league includes Ridge View Middle School, Piscataquis Community Middle School, Howland Middle School, Warsaw Middle School  and SeDoMoCha. The championship tournament will be on Thursday, March 27 at Penobscot Valley High School in Howland.
    The Eagles opened the regular season last Wednesday when the team traveled to Guilford. They defeated PCMS 76-22 and Warsaw Middle School 88-16.
    On Saturday, March 8 SeDoMoCha traveled to Dexter to compete at the Dexter Youth Wrestling Tournament with over 280 wrestlers from 12 different teams. SeDoMoCha had a lot of wrestlers finishing top in their division. Congratulations to the following individuals for placing at this tournament.
    In third place: Brayer Manchester and Krisla Wagner;
    In second place: Gage Henderson, Josh Tatlock, Machaleb Niles, Cody Labbe andJosh Whittemore.
    And tournament champions: Esau Olson, Jacob Olson, Brandon Weston, Dustin Simmons and Reggie Johnston.
    The Foxcroft youth wrestling team also started during February vacation. The team is made up of students from grades pre-K through fourth. The Eagles had 48 wrestlers come out for the team this year. They practice Tuesdays and Thursdays with pre-K-1 from 3-4:30 p.m. and 2-4 from 4:45-6 p.m.
    The Foxcroft youth wrestling team also competed at the Dexter Youth Wrestling Tournament on March 8. For their first tournament of the season the team had a successful showing as they had a lot of their wrestlers finishing top of their division.
    In fourth place: Colby Faloon, Winnie Rhoda, Jacob Stevens and Seth Finnemore.
    In third place: Amyah Blanchard, Angel Case, Sabastian Martini, Sadie Farmer, Kael Niland, Gabe Leighton, Eli Swanson, Kaiden Whitten, Kayden Rollins, Sam Charles, Garret Chase, Nathan Weymouth and Kiya Cook.
    In second place: Hayden Hanson, Brooklyn Black, Nathan Durgin, Noah Cavanagh, Craig Farmer, Carter Blanchard, Skylar Gibbs and Emily Leighton;
    Tournament champions: Robert Weymouth, Parker Weymouth, Austin Weymouth, Aidan Bryant, Silas Topolski, Dawson Blanchard, Jackson Blanchard, Gage Beaudry and Isaiah Arno.
