FA student organizing dress sale to benefit Make a Wish Maine
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Foxcroft Academy junior Jessica Simpson is organizing a dress donation/sale in order to offer inexpensive dresses to local shoppers and raise money for the Make a Wish Maine Foundation. Anyone who would like to donate a dress can drop it off in the main lobby of Foxcroft Academy between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on any weekday through March 14. The dress sale will then be held in the FA Student Center from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 15. An ad in last week’s Piscataquis Observer said that the sale is being held in the lobby, but it has since been moved to accommodate a wrestling tournament.
Foxcroft Academy will happily receive any type of dress people would like to donate (those who donate a dress are asked to clearly mark their name on the tag or an attached label). At the sale, formal/prom dresses will be sold for $20, short dresses will be $10, and dresses that have any imperfections will be $5. There is a 50 percent discount for anyone who donated a dress, and all proceeds from the event will go to Make A Wish Maine.
Simpson, a member of the National Honor Society, decided to organize this event because “not everyone has the money to afford an expensive prom dress” and she also wanted to give girls an opportunity to save money on all kinds of dresses they otherwise would not be able to afford. She also believes strongly that the money raised from the event should be sent to a charity and thinks Make A Wish Maine will be a very worthy recipient.
