‘Behavioral Health Home’ at NAMI night

By Beth Ranagan

DOVER-FOXCROFT — On March 10 the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Piscataquis County will present Meg Callaway to speak about the Behavioral Health Home care model soon to be instituted at the Charlotte White Center in Dover-Foxcroft. The services provided by the Behavioral Health Home are designed to connect consumers who have serious mental illnesses and chronic medical health needs with primary care and behavioral health providers.  Serious mental illnesses include bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety disorders. Chronic medical conditions include diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, and COPD.

The goal of the connections and coordination is better recovery outcomes for consumers. Any adult currently receiving community integration services or any child receiving mental health targeted case management is eligible for Behavioral Health Home care.
If you would like more information as to exactly how the Behavioral Health Home care model works, attend the NAMI Speaker Night on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sebec Room at Mayo Regional Hospital. Bring your questions for Callaway, who directs this new project. The program is free and refreshments will be served. For more information, call 924-7903.
