Alcohol server/seller training sessions Dec. 3

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Responsible Beverage Sales Training (TIPS) will be offered on Tuesday, Dec. 3 with sessions for servers from 8 a.m. to noon and for sellers from 12:30-4:30 p.m. The trainings will take place in the Borestone Room at the Mayo Regional Hospital Resource Center.

This state approved seller/server training will cover the following topics: identifying minors and visibly intoxicated patrons (VIPs); intervention to prevent a visibly intoxicated patron from driving; how alcohol is ingested and metabolized by the body; what alcoholism is and how alcohol affects the body; false ID detection and carding policy (did you know you and your establishment are liable for accepting a false ID); the importance of good written policies; and the Liquor Liability Act.
Quality training has proven to be an effective tool to prevent costly violations, instill more confidence in your staff and possibly reduce Liquor Liability Insurance (check your insurance provider).
Upon successfully completing the program, attendees will be registered with the Maine Department of Public Safety, Liquor Licensing and receive a certificate that is good for three years. Each participating establishment will receive one State of Maine 2013 ID Checking Guide.
This training is being offered by the Piscataquis Public Health Council and Maine’s Office of Substance Abuse to help prevent costly and harmful sales to underage and high risk drinkers, and promote a healthier and safer community and business environment.
For more information contact Lisa Kingsbury, Piscataquis Public Health Council, at 564-4184 or lkingsbury@mayohospital.com. Class size is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
