Dover-Foxcroft

A HALF CENTURY AT 22 NORTH ST.

On Saturday, Nov. 16, Will’s Shop ‘n Save in Dover-Foxcroft went back in time 50 years to the original ribbon cutting of Judkins’ Red & White in1963. Ernest (Juddy) Judkins III was on hand to cut the yellow ribbon to a crowd of over 150 people at 7 a.m.

Prior to Judkins cutting the ribbon, owner Will Wedge shared with the customers that the Judkins family started their grocery business in Dover-Foxcroft back in 1905 — 108 years prior —  and that three generations of Judkins have been grocers in this great community. The celebration commemorated 50 years of the 22 North St. building being your local supermarket. On hand were over 18 former associates who spent the day working together again as a team and helping over 1,200 customers who came through the doors to see them. As a special treat the former associates handed out 500 free food items, including 50 turkeys, to the first 500 customers.
