Pat’s Pizza holding golf tourney to raise funds for Ade Family Scholarship
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Dover-Foxcroft’s Pat’s Pizza will be partnering with the Foxcroft Golf Club to hold an 18-hole, four-ball scramble golf tournament at the golf club on Saturday, Sept. 21. Registration will open at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start kicking off at 10, and teams must have a combined handicap of at least 72 to enter.
Anyone lucky enough to hole a tee shot on the course’s four par threes will win either $10,000 or a substantial prize package, and other prizes will be awarded for “closest to the pin” and “closest to the line” shots. A Lawrence Taylor throwback jersey and a Bobby Orr Winter Classic jersey are but two of the items that will be raffled off throughout the day, and all players will receive a 10 percent discount on any purchases made at an award ceremony at Pat’s from 5-8 p.m. that evening. Players are encouraged to pre-register for the tournament and can do so by calling Foxcroft Golf Club at 564-8887.
The proceeds of this tournament will go toward the Pat’s Pizza Ade Family Scholarship, which was created by Pat’s owners Alyson and Bob Ade and will award $1,000 annually to a Foxcroft Academy senior pursuing a career in the fields of culinary arts, hospitality or business management. Students must perform a minimum of 50 hours of community service to be eligible for the scholarship, and the inaugural recipient will be selected by the Foxcroft Academy faculty this spring.
The scholarship is part of Pat’s Pizza’s ongoing effort to give back to the Dover-Foxcroft community. The family-owned restaurant has been donating 10 percent of all food sales to a community endeavor every Monday since April and plans to continue this practice indefinitely.
“It is critical to be an active member of this community,” said Jason Simpson, manager of Pat’s, “and we take this responsibility very seriously.”
