Area cross country results

    The Foxcroft Academy cross country team was in action on Sept. 14 when the Ponies ran in the Presque Isle Cross Country Invitational, held at Caribou High School.
    Senior Liza Grigoryeva covered the 3-mile course in 24 minutes, 5.95 seconds to finish 29th out of a field of 62.

    Also running for Foxcroft was sophomore Jenny Clawson, 40th at 26:11.02; senior Clara Stephens, 44th at 26:52.43; junior Luming Guan, 60th at 38:26.72; and junior Ana Sedlackova, 61st at 39:17.43.
    The Ponies finished with a score of 217 points, tying Fort Kent for eighth place among 10 teams.
    In the boys’ meeting, junior Noah Simpson led Foxcroft by placing 39th out of 62 with a time of 21:21.82. The rest of the Ponies were sophomore Yun-Ting Tsai, 49th at 22:35.29; freshman Taylor Smith, 50th at 22:43.73; and freshman Ethan Poland, 61st at 27:48.84.
    A pair of area runners took part in the Bucksport Invitational on Sept. 14. William Strauch of Dexter Regional High School placed 22nd out of 44 with a time of 20:28. Coming in 38th was Alex McKenney of Piscataquis Community High School in 22:27.
