MARKING 30 YEARS — The Guilford Historical Society Fall Festival celebration on Sept. 21 will also mark its 30th anniversary.

This year’s Guilford Historical Society’s Fall Festival will be an outdoor event from 2-8 p.m. on the Braeburn lot next to the new Red Maple Inn and across the street from the historical society, according to committee member Carrie Fellows.
“The Roy Hudson band will play outdoors from 4-8 p.m., there will be free hayrides provided by Brian Woodworth starting at 2 p.m. and tours of the newly-renovated Guilford Historical Society,” Fellows said. “We’ll have hayrides as long as the kids want them and the historical society building will be open as long as there are people around.”
There will be hot dogs and other treats on sale with all proceeds going toward the society. “Everything else will be free,” Fellows said. “This is a new format for us, but we think it will bring new people to the community. The Roy Hudson band is very popular.” The outdoor events will conclude with a bonfire on the Braeburn lot.
To show their gratitude for the support they’ve received since they opened in September 2003, Community Fitness is hosting an open house celebration on Sept. 21 from 1-4 p.m. “It’s our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the community, so we’re holding our celebration on the same day as the Guilford Historical Society to make it a town-wide event,” said Gayle Worden, Community Fitness executive director.
Jimmy Bell’s classic rock and country band “Palpitations” will play from 1-4 p.m., there will be free refreshments and a photo slide show. If it rains, all the events will move into the gymnasium.
Friends of Community Fitness, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is a 24/7 community and fitness center located in the former Guilford Primary School. They offer a variety of fitness classes for all ages and abilities, two well-equipped weight rooms, cardio fitness equipment, locker rooms, showers and a gymnasium/stage area used for fitness classes. In addition, there are several children’s programs offered including, basketball and volleyball; and certified ComFit personal training service.
