Hutchinson named a captain of MMA football

sp-hutchinsonmug-dcX-po-34    CASTINE, Maine — Chase Hutchinson, a resident of Dover-Foxcroft and graduate of Foxcroft Academy, has been named a co-captain of Maine Maritime Academy football team for the 2013 season. Hutchinson joins Bill Wetherbee of Veazie — who played for Little Ten Conference rival John Bapst Memorial High School of Bangor when the two were in high school — as the leaders of the Mariners for the upcoming season.

“We are excited to have Bill and Chase as captains for the 2013 season,” Head Coach Chis McKenney said. “The two were chosen by their teammates for their leadership on and off the field. They have had solid careers to this point and we expect great things during their senior seasons. They continue to lead by example through hard work in the classroom, on the field and in the community.”
Hutchinson was second on the team last season in tackles with 45, picked off one pass and recovered two fumbles.
The Mariners open the 2013 schedule on Saturday, Sept. 14, hosting Anna Maria at noon.
