Accident claims life of Dover-Foxcroft man

DEXTER — A two-car crash on Route 7 in Dexter claimed the life of a 72-year-old Dover-Foxcroft man on Aug. 8 and injured the driver of the other vehicle, according to Dexter Police Chief Kevin Wintle.

Camille Raymond, 72, died in the early morning accident when a Ford Ranger pick-up truck operated by Eric Merryman, 33, of Dayton crossed the center line of the road and struck Raymond’s Chevrolet sedan.
Raymond was reportedly traveling to work at Pride Manufacturing in Burnham, where he had been employed for 40 years.
The cause of the accident is still undetermined, said Wintle. The roads were clear at the time and there was no indication of alcohol use, he said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and Merryman was transported first to Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft and later to Eastern Maine Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
The Dexter Police Department was assisted by the Dexter, Dover-Foxcroft and Garland fire department.
Camille Raymond is the father of Chad Raymond, a part-time delivery driver for the Piscataquis Observer.
A memorial Mass will be held today (Aug. 14) at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Dover-Foxcroft at 10 a.m.
