CANCER RIDE RECIPIENTS
On July 13 members of the Piscataquis County United Bikers of Maine (UBM) conducted the organization’s fourth annual Cancer Ride, with 39 motorcycles and about 60 participants traveling approximately 170 miles from Dover-Foxcroft to Millinocket and back through Howland.

The Cancer Ride raised $1,650, which was divided between three area families that each have children coping with cancer. The $550 contributions were presented on July 23 at the Bear’s Den in Dover-Foxcroft, and each family also received another $20 after a Bear’s Den patron left a $60 donation upon overhearing Piscataquis County UBM members discussing the Caner Ride at a previous organization meeting. From left is Kelly Nally and her daughter Raven Nally, Melanie Burrill — whose son Chris Ames was one of the children the Piscataquis County UBM members rode for — and County Director Jon Prescott. The Cancer Ride and additional donation also provided a $570 combined contribution for the family of Natalie Healey, the third child to benefit from the event who was able to join Nally and Ames for the motorcycle sendoff on July 13 from the A.E. Robinson parking lot on West Main Street.
