Three Rivers Kiwanis Sebec River Canoe & Kayak Race results

    SEBEC — Over 20 racers paddled the swift water of the Sebec River from just below the dam in Sebec Village to the boat landing in Milo.  Race Chair Bobby Ellison said the water was fast this year which made for a great race.  This race helps support programs for local youth in the greater Milo and Brownville area, the race was MACKRO event as well.

TAKE YOUR (WATER) MARKS — Entrants in the annual Three Rivers Kiwanis Sebec River Canoe & Kayak Race take off from the start in Sebec Village on June 15, to travel to Milo by the finish line near the boar landing.

    Winners are as follows: Class 11 (High School) first place went to the team of Lyford/Larrabee with a time of 1:24:32; Class 8 (Junior/Senior) first went to the team of McKee/Rubin with a time of 1:38:46; Class 7(Local Recreational Canoe) first went to the team of Slama/Crocker with a time of 2:01:47; Class 6 (Local Recreational Kayak) first went to Wilma Buchanan with a time of 1:39:21;
    Class 4 (MACKRO Recreational Canoe) first went to the team of Krog/Goulet with a time of 1:11:02; Class 3 (MACKRO Racing Canoe) first went to the team of Ranco/Francis with a time of 1:04:58; Class 2 (MACKRO Recreational Kayak) first went to John Carter with a time of 1:17:33; and Class 1 (MACKRO Racing Kayak) first went to Dan Baumart with a time of 1:15:29. 
    This race would not happen without the support of the Sebec Dam Operators, the Milo Fire Dept.’s River Rescue Team and equipment, Milo Police Department, the local businesses and all the volunteers,  Ellison said.
