RSU 68 directors establish near $9.8M budget

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The RSU 68 Board of Directors gave their approval to a budget for the 2013-14 academic year totaling $9,792,467 during a monthly meeting May 7 at the SeDoMoCha School. This figure represents an increase of over $142,000 from the approximate $9,650,00 residents in the four district communities approved last June to fund the current school year.

A public information session on the spending plan will be held on Tuesday, May 28 at 6 p.m. at SeDoMoCha, which will be followed up by the district budget meeting at 6:30 p.m. This date will give citizens a chance to vote on the various articles making up the budget. The articles include budget figures such as over $5.4 million for regular education, about $1.1 million for special education and nearly $600,000 for facilities maintenance.
The approved budget on May 28 will then go out to voters in Charleston, Dover-Foxcroft, Monson and Sebec for enactment via a referendum on Tuesday, June 11, coinciding with other town referendums.
