GFWC/Miosac Club news 

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — Sixteen members of the GFWC/Miosac Club met May 7 for the annual meeting. Members brought a brown bag lunch to enjoy prior to the meeting.

    Following the lunch, President Betsey Ryan opened the meeting, thanking the hostesses Roxy McGlauflin and Athalie Burke. Burke led the Collect, American’s Creed and the Pledge of Allegiance. Diane Leighton took roll call and read the secretary’s report. Carol Kilpatrick gave the treasurer’s report,  Barbara Clark won the Sebec Lake Ice Out Contest.
    Kilpatrick gave a report on community improvement and reminded members that the Marion Doore Park needed spring clean-up. A Boy Scout troop will be invited to help with that project. Dot  Finnemore and Vicki Moschella  presented invitations to the annual birthday dinner to be held May 21 at The Other Room. It was reported that Pine Tree Hospice has booklets regarding miscarriage and fetal demise for information in connection with the Newborns In Need project — which Minnie McCormick reported on.
    Ryan reminded members that the GFWC Maine Spring Convention was scheduled to be held in South Portland May 9-10 with five members attending.
    McGlauflin read a thank you from Kary Lyman, Tastefully Simple demonstrator, for our orders and a letter from Girl Scouts asking for a donation which we do give. Leighton spoke about directory ads and will bring them to the next meeting.
    The Whoopie Festival and Homecoming were mentioned and club voted not to do either of them this year.
    The meeting was adjourned and the annual meeting was opened. All officers gave reports of the happenings for the club year. The budget was presented and accepted with  one revision. The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be the birthday dinner on May 21.
