New ‘Star Trek’ movie will be first digital film screened at the Center Theatre
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Center Theatre for the Performing Arts announces its first digital “Day of Release” movie “Star Trek Into Darkness” which will open on Friday, May 17 at the Center Theatre at the same time that it opens nationwide.
“We were hoping that the upgrade to digital would allow us to get movies closer to the release date,” says Executive Director Angela Bonacasa. “And it looks like it has. In addition to ‘Star Trek’, we have several other summer blockbusters that we hope to be able to get on the day they are released. We are so excited and proud to be able to bring such a current movie to the community.”
Unlike previous movies that have run up to a week at the Center Theatre, “Star Trek Into Darkness” will run a full two weeks, allowing the theatre to take advantage of Memorial Day weekend audiences.
Bonacasa adds, “In addition, we’ll be opening the movie with a midnight showing, so fans at the Center Theatre will be able to be among the first to see it in the nation. They’ll be seeing and hearing it on our brand new Christie Solaria One projector which is a huge improvement over our old 35m projector. Even people who don’t go to the movies regularly will notice the improvement in the brightness and clarity of the image and the richness and quality of the sound.”
“Star Trek Into Darkness” will open at 12:05 a.m. on Friday, May 17 and run through May 30.
