GFWC/Miosac Club news
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Fourteen members of the GFWC/Miosac Club met at Thayer Parkway on April 16. Hostess Elaine Larson introduced Carrie Lyman, Tastefully Simple demonstrator. Lyman explained the many products she sells and how to use them, Members sampled breads, dips, sauces, cheese balls and salsa mixes. This was a fund raising meeting to support the many projects the club does through out the year.
Following the presentation. President Betsey Ryan held a brief meeting to make the following announcements; GFWC Maine Spring Convention in South Portland May 9 and 10 — several members plan to attend. The May 7 meeting will be the annual meeting with yearly reports. The birthday dinner will be May 21.
Ice out Chairman Barbara Glover reported that the money has all been turned in. Ice is not out as yet.
Minnie McCormick announced that April 16 was Prevent Child Abuse America Day. It will be celebrated all month. Prevent Child Abuse America is a Domestic Violence Project in General Federation. McCormick and and Leona Dow put out the pinwheels, the symbol, last week at the Dover-Foxcroft Methodist church and around the flagpole at the Save- A- Lot parking lot. Vandals have already damaged some of the pinwheels.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, May 7.
