Northern Forest Canoe Trail Spring Freshet Auction is under way

WAITSFIELD, VT. — The Northern Forest Canoe Trail’s (NFCT) Spring Freshet Auction is under way raising funds for the stewardship of the 740-mile, four-state water trail. The online auction includes life jackets, paddling apparel, camping gear, and repair service for your canoe, kayak or stand-up paddle board.

The auction runs April 15–30 at www.biddingforgood.com/auction/AuctionHome.action?vhost=thecanoetrailauction.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will support training for volunteer trail maintainers who inspect campsites and portages each spring and make sure NFCT trail markers are in place at the start of the paddling season.
These volunteer efforts are significant in helping to ensure that paddlers have access to canoe and kayak adventures along this waterway that spans from the Adirondacks to northern Maine.
The Northern Forest Canoe Trail is a nonprofit that stewards and promotes the 740-mile route, and works in concert with trailside communities to support a vibrant and sustainable North Country.
The Northern Forest Canoe Trail is the longest paddling trail in the nation and runs from Old Forge, N.Y., through Vermont, Québec, and New Hampshire to Fort Kent. In 2012, the Trail was named “Best East Coast Adventure” by “Outside Magazine.” To learn more about paddling the NFCT, to become a member and to purchase a guidebook and maps, visit www.northernforestcanoetrail.org or call 802-496-2285.
