FA National Honor Society inducts a dozen new members

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — Twelve new members were inducted into the Foxcroft Academy Chapter of the National Honor Society at a ceremony held in the Student Center on the evening of April 11. The well-deserving 2013 inductees are Katherine Buerger, Montana Crossman, Zhaojing Ji, Samuel Keane, Myungjin Kim, Hyun Jae Lee, Landon Page, Briana Pasanen, Travis Vincent, Leah Word, Liyang Yu and Yuqing Zhang.

NHS PONIES — Foxcroft Academy inducted 12 new members into its chapter of the National Honor Society during a ceremony on April 11. The dozen students joined eight standing members in the Foxcroft Academy Chapter of the National Honor Society.

    “These 12 students have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character,” said Head of School Arnold Shorey. “They are role models for all our students and have earned the right to call themselves members of the National Honor Society.”
    Current NHS President Gabrielle Henderson opened the induction ceremony with a welcoming address and was followed at the podium by Vice President Monica Miles, who spoke about the history of the National Honor Society, which was officially established in 1921. Shorey then introduced Foxcroft Academy Trustee Norman Higgins, who offered the Remarks for the Good of the Order.
    Current NHS Treasurer Yuxin Li and Secretary Brittany Sletterink then introduced each of the new members and NHS Adviser Peter Hartel followed by reciting the National Honor Society Pledge, “I pledge to uphold the highest purposes of the National Honor Society to which I have been elected. I will be true to the principles for which it stands and will maintain and encourage high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.”
    The new members were then officially presented to the audience, and the evening concluded with a reception and refreshments.
    The Foxcroft Academy Chapter of the National Honor Society now comprises 20 students, with the Class of 2013 joining standing members Jessica Curtin, Atticus Dennis, Gabrielle Henderson, Yuxin Li, Monica Miles, Kate Morrison, Brittany Sletterink and Alexander Stevens.
