Ames to be inducted into UMFK Athletic Hall of Fame

sp-amesmug-dcX-po-12    FORT KENT — Ashley Ames, a 2005 graduate of Dexter Regional High School, will be one of four new members inducted into the University of Maine at Fort Kent Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, March 23.

    Ames, who graduated from UMFK in 2010, is being inducted for her success on both the basketball and volleyball courts, Ames set school basketball records in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots during a three-year career at UMFK.  Following her basketball career, Ames proved herself to be equally-adept at volleyball, earning Sunrise Conference and all-New England honors.  She also twice was named as an academic All-American for her scholarly work.
    The Hall of Fame Selection Committee announced the Class of 2013 Hall of Fame inductees during the campus’ Homecoming in September. The four honorees span 94 years of UMFK’s 134-year history.
