Pair of Ponies compete at NE high school track meet

BOSTON — Foxcroft Academy sophomore Fern Morrison and senior Donnie Boyer competed against the finest track athletes in all of New England at the 26th annual New England Interscholastic Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 2 at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center.

The incredible versatility of Morrison — who set school records this year in the 400 (1:02.15), the 800 (2:28.63) and the mile (5:46.64) — was on full display in Boston, as she finished 19th in all of New England in the 600 — a distance she’s never competed at before.
Morrison ran a time of 1:42.13, which placed her 19th among 27 runners. Senior Erica Johnson of Bay View (R.I.) came in first at 1:33.37.
Boyer qualified for the New England championship in both the 55 hurdles and the high jump.
He suffered an injury early in his preliminary run for the 55 hurdles, an event for which he was seeded fifth at the meet.
