Pony wrestlers compete in Noble wrestling tournament

    BERWICK — The Foxcroft Academy wrestling team took to the mats with teams from Classes A, B  and C as well as schools from out of state during the Noble (High School) Invitational Dec. 28-29. The Ponies finished with 121 points to place seventh out of over 40 schools, recording the highest point total of any Class C team.

    Wesley Stinson came in third at 152 pounds. In the consolation finals he defeated Trevor Burns of Massabesic High School of Waterboro 6-0.

    Two other Ponies also reached the consolation finals. Forrest Law fell in overtime, 4-2, at 145 pounds to Jackson Howarth of Marshwood High School of South Berwick. At 195 pounds Corey Bjornson was defeated, 6-4, by Connor Morenzi of LaSalle Academy of Providence, R.I.

    Three other Foxcroft wrestlers finished in sixth place in their respective weight classes. Corbyn Bruce lost 5-1 to Levi Hayden of Skowhegan High School in the fifth- and sixth-place finals in the 182-pound division, Louie LaFache was pinned at 46 seconds by Travis Stuard of Mt. Blue High School in a 220-pound match and Alex Sedore fell by forfeit at 285 pounds to John DeLoach of Deering High School of Portland.
