Foxcroft track news

    ORONO — The Foxcroft Academy boys indoor track and field team came in third place, with a score of 57 points, at an Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet Jan. 5 at the University of Maine.

    The Ponies had a trio of individual first-place finishes. Senior Donald Boyer came in first in the 55 hurdles with a time of 8.15 seconds and he won the high jump at 6 feet, 2 inches, while senior Ryan Wang had the best time of the meet in the 55 at 6.93 seconds.

    The two also came in second in two other events. Boyer was the runner-up in the 400 at 54.55 seconds, while Wang was second in the 200 at 24.84 seconds. Senior Cody Levensalor placed second in the shot put with a top throw of 41-11.

    Also scoring points for Foxcroft was sophomore Justin Diamond, third in the long jump at 16-01; senior Alex Stevens, fourth in the triple jump at 34-04; senior Jacob LaBree, fourth in the 200 at 25.41; the 4×200 relay (comprised of sophomores Peter Boyer, Julian Zepeda, Diamond and senior Dakota Baird), fourth at 1:48.26; the 4×880 relay (senior Josh Bombero, sophomore Sebastian Zepeda and freshmen James Smith and Abraham Simpson) fourth at 9:53.07; senior Jasper Thompson, fifth in the 200 at 25.59; Julian Zepeda, fifth in the long jump at 14-08.50; and Stevens, sixth in the 55 hurdles at 9.85 seconds.

    The Foxcroft girls were fifth of five teams with 29 points. Sophomore Fern Morrison came in second in a pair of events and finished third in another. Morrison was the runner-up in the 400 and 800, at 1:03.93 and 2:41.57 respectively, and she finished third in the 55 at 8.19 seconds.

    Freshman Desirae Brawn’s throw of 26-10.25 was good for second place in the shot put. She also ran the third leg of the third-place 4×200 relay team, joining junior Mia Smith, senior Lydia Zepeda and senior Angie Chen for a time of 2:12.40.

    Smith came in fourth in the long jump, 12-08.75, and sixth in the 55, 8.50. Junior Leah Word placed fifth in the shot put, 23-11.
