Trout Unlimited to stage 2020 national meeting in Bangor
Fisheries conservationists from around the country will converge on Bangor in August, as Trout Unlimited will stage its national annual meeting in the Queen City of the East Aug. 19-23, 2020. Hundreds of volunteers are expected to attend, learn about conservation efforts that have succeeded in Eastern Maine and discuss coldwater conservation issues with their peers, as well as staffers, scientists and partners from state and federal agencies.

Hermon girls cruise past Foxcroft in basketball season opener
The Hermon High School girls basketball team showed Friday night, Dec. 6 why it should be among the contenders for the Class B North championship this season. Although they were facing a youthful Foxcroft Academy team, the Hawks were impressive in all phases of the game en route to a season-opening 74-28 victory at Hermon High School. The veteran Hawks wasted little time capitalizing on the Ponies’ inexperience, scoring the game’s first 10 points en route to a 17-2 run.

Peach is a part of tallest Husson women’s basketball team ever
Husson University women’s basketball coach Kissy Walker said that in 29 seasons at the school she has never had a team with as much height as this one. And there is plenty of talent to go with that height. The Eagles feature two veteran 6-footers in senior Sami Ireland and junior Megan Peach of Garland, both of whom earned All-North Atlantic Conference second-team honors last season. They are joined by 6-foot-3 freshman Bailey Donovan, who already has twice been named the NAC Rookie of the Week, and 6-foot freshman Eri Lawrence, who has a lot of upside.
