And, this school near the shores of Moosehead Lake has long been known as the little school with the big heart. That attitude has been the foundation for their sports programs for years. It’s what garnered Greenville softball the win over Penobscot Valley last June, making them Class D champions.

Josh Pelletier, a 2006 graduate of Foxcroft Academy, had his singlet retired in front of a packed gymnasium. Pelletier is the second Pony wrestler to receive the honor -- four-time state champion Jerod Rideout was the first.

6 years ago Greenville Junction hiker shines light on American Discovery Trail Local resident Wendy Weiger is planning an exciting adventure this month. She is embarking on a hike on the relatively new American Discovery Trail (ADT). This trail system of 6,800 miles is, according to the ADT website, “a new breed of national trail — part city, part small town, part forest, part mountains, part desert — all in one trail.” It stretches from the east coast at Cape Henlopen State Park in Delaware to Pt. Reyes National Seashore in California.

The league includes teams from Greenville, Guilford, Dover-Foxcroft, Milo, Howland, Corinth, Dexter, Corinna, Newport, Hartland, Pittsfield and Etna/Dixmont with over 400 players participating this season.

6 years ago Southern Aroostook wins second straight D crown with win over Greenville The Southern Aroostook girls basketball team returned every starter off last year’s state Class D championship team and it certainly showed on Saturday afternoon, March 2. The experienced Warriors of Dyer Brook reeled off a 14-0 run in the first quarter to build an 11-point lead and pulled away for an impressive 55-30 victory over a hardworking Greenville team while winning a second straight state title for the first time in school history.

That’s because the Lakers have only eight players on the roster.

The junior from Dexter Regional High School is set to leave Thursday for Providence, Rhode Island, the site of this weekend’s New England interscholastic championships.
6 years ago Dexter’s Grant and Herrick selected for BDN All-Tourney Team For the second year in a row, Dexter Regional High School sophomores Peyton Grant and Avery Herrick were honored for their play during the high school basketball tournament at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor by being chosen as two of five players on the 2019 Bangor Daily News All-Tourney Team for Class C North.
