To the Editor; Thank you to the Bangor Daily News for recently publishing a guest column on the power of youth apprenticeships by Educate Maine Executive Director Jason Judd.

To the Editor; Why is the state of Maine looking elsewhere when the resources are right here in Maine? Why are two nonprofits losing a contract for transportation for Medicaid patients, when we have two wonderful nonprofits right here who have provided needed transportation for medical appointments in the past and wish to continue? Whatever happened to shop local? Sometimes it does cost a bit more but local support provides jobs, builds community spirit and is an investment both socially and economically.

To the Editor; In the summer and fall of 2022, the Sangerville Town Hall faced a significant setback when the Maine Municipal Association canceled its property coverage due to necessary repairs.

To the Editor; For a brief period, the urban hubs caught in the eclipse’s path seemed to shed the weight of the world’s troubles momentarily: They ceased dwelling on the conflicts in Ukraine and Israel, the burden of high taxes, looming bills, tragic violence, and the divisive gun discourse.

To the Editor; I had assumed the referendum question concerning the fate of the Mayo Mill Dam would be clear and concise.

To the Editor; As the total eclipse of the sun approaches Maine on Monday, from my perspective, one single aspect of this phenomenon stands out as totally awesome First, the basics.

To the Editor; I don’t understand why the Mayo Mill Dam project in Dover-Foxcroft has become so controversial.

To the Editor; I applaud Bangor public schools for implementing full-day prekindergarten.

To the Editor; As a lifelong Maine resident it worries me to see that lawmakers are considering LD 1215, a policy that could hurt Maine retailers, taxpayers and the state economy by banning the sale of popular flavored tobacco and nicotine products.

To the Editor; Waldo Community Action Partners and Penquis Community Action Agency have been the standard bearer for many, many years, and there is no need to farm out their services to an out-of-state contractor, especially since it will remove millions of needed dollars from the Maine economy and into the hands of corporate entities that seemingly will be more concerned with their bottom dollar than the care of our elderly and disabled residents.

To the Editor; Recently, I have come to the realization that any organized efforts to save the Mayo Mill Dam crafted from my Facebook created group are too little too late.

To the Editor; The meeting of the Allagash Advisory Council began for me in delight — I was reunited with a room full of wardens, fisheries biologists, recreation specialists, lodge owners, naturalists, guides, most of us sporting some grey in our hair.

To the Editor; Since being elected county commissioner, I’ve lost track of the amount of times that I have been informed by our local non-profit leadership and media that I should “mind my business” when it comes to matters beyond the county government, such as state and federal issues.

To the Editor; What to call Laken Riley’s alleged murderer has been a hot topic since President Joe Biden referred to him as an “illegal” in the State of the Union address.

To the Editor; This is largely my opinion as a founder of the Friends of the Mayo Mill Dam group.

To the Editor; As a first-year teacher entering the profession, I have already seen what I feel is a very alarming trend in education — we are hanging on by a thread.
