An event-packed day for all the family will be at the 2018 Monson Summer Festival on Saturday, July 21.

It’s not too early to sign up for 2018 production. Local Window Dressers volunteers in the Dover-Foxcroft region are making appointments now to measure windows for cost-saving insulating window inserts. Window Dressers is a four-year old non-profit supporting barnraiser-like community builds in local communities in Maine, gathering neighbors to help neighbors build the inserts.

The Abbot Town Hall will be the location of the first annual reunion of students who attended school in Abbot, which organizers hope will become an annual event. A potluck picnic is planned to start at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 29 and this is a rain or shine event.

A pair of blood drives are scheduled for later in the month. The first will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 21 at the Parkman Town Office, 771 State Highway Route 150. The other will be from 1-6 p.m. on Monday, July 30 at the Family Worship Center, 1372 Bangor Road in Dover-Foxcroft.

The second annual Mid-Summer Night’s Gala Dinner Dance will be on the evening of Friday, July 27 aboard the Steamship Katahdin. In March the Holy Family Church in Greenville dedicated its brand new church in March. With only 5 percent of the fundraising left, the parish is sponsoring a dinner/dance cruise aboard the Katahdin with all ticket proceeds going to the church building fund.

A parade through the village once again helped celebrate the annual Fourth of July festivities in Sebec.

The Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) is excited to announce its fun, new series “Families in the Outdoors.” District staff invite the public to register for this series of three half-day programs, each with a different and fun theme and all featuring games, exploration, learning, special guests, hands-on activities and fun for the whole family.

The Guilford Memorial Library's children's summer programming will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11 with "Fiddlin Around the Library." The children's programming will continue each Wednesday throughout July and into the first day of August.

One successful, researched, body-based, SAMHSA evidence-based treatment is Trauma-Sensitive Yoga. At 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 12 at Central Hall in Dover-Foxcroft, a filmed presentation of David Emerson, MA, developer of Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, will be available for viewing by any interested community members wanting to learn about how to discharge trauma using this technique.

This July, squash boredom and spice up your summer routine at the Thompson Free Library in Dover-Foxcroft. On tap, a fun mix of engaging programs that will appeal to all ages.

Mayo Regional Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of Bernard Perlman, MD, to the medical team at Guilford Medical Associates. Dr. Perlman will be providing primary care services.

Join us at the Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District at one of several public libraries throughout Piscataquis County for a free presentation about watersheds. Using a large scale model, everyone will get to participate in “making rain” over a watershed and watch what happens in the course of the journey. There will be activities for all ages to help better understand what a watershed is.

The Brownville-Brownville Junction Historical Society met on June 24 at the Parish House Museum. Yes, the museum is open for the season. Volunteers staff the museum on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m through September or by appointment (call 965-8070 or 943-7791).

In order to get started to fulfill its mission of helping end food insecurity and increase the vitality of the agricultural economy of Dover-Foxcroft and surrounding communities, the Piscataquis Regional Food Center (PRFC) is applying for $50,000 in federal funding through the 2018 USDA Rural Development Community Facilities grant program. As part of the application process, a public hearing was held during the selectmen’s meeting on June 18.

The Sebec Village Associates will have a day of events on the Fourth of July next week, with proceeds benefiting the Reading Room. The day on Wednesday, July 4 starts with a breakfast at the Sebec Village Community Christian Church from 7-9 a.m.

Two Americana bands for the price of one at 7 p.m. at the Wayside Theatre on Saturday, June 30. The bands are Timberdoodle and then Three Yankees and One Hillbilly.
